Transportation
Getting Here and Getting Around
Both getting here and getting around when you're here are easy, thanks to our very close airport and various car rental options.
If you're driving to the area, Interstate 75 (I-75) is the major highway that transverses the county, in addition to U.S. 41, also known as Tamiami Trail.
If you’re flying in, Punta Gorda Airport is convenient and just minutes from downtown Punta Gorda.
If your preferred airline does not fly into PGD, there are four other major airports within a 90 minute drive:
- Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) in Fort Myers
- Sarasota/Bradenton International (SRQ) Airport
- Tampa International (TPA)
- St. Petersburg/Clearwater International (PIE).
Once you're here, getting around is convenient, with local branches of national rental car companies scattered around the county, in addition to shared riding services Uber and Lyft.
