Museums

Punta Gorda/Englewood Beach has a rich history that is commemorated in a variety of museums, both traditional (but never stuffy) and outside-the-box. We’re a bit of a hidden gem on the Southwest Florida Gulf coast, and our visitors often like to take a bit of time to learn more about us.

Traditional museum settings include a state-of-the-art facility focused on global as well as local military history, and a comprehensive exhibit on African American history in our county.

Our non-traditional venues include exhibits in various historical buildings throughout the destination, and a few of them offer added value, like an adjacent antique mall or restaurant. There’s even an entire park devoted to Punta Gorda history that features four historical homes that serve as “mini” museums. There’s also a nautical museum close by on Boca Grande.

Showcasing our history in honest, relevant, and even charming ways often enhances the visitor experience in Punta Gorda/Englewood Beach. Spend a bit of your present with us and see!
