Itinerary of the Month: A 3-Day July Weekend in Punta Gorda/Englewood Beach
July in Punta Gorda/Englewood Beach means warm water, long days, and one of the best Fourth of July weekends on Florida's Gulf Coast. This itinerary is built around the Fourth of July weekend and stretches into the following week for one of the area's most distinctive annual festivals. Whether you're here for the fireworks, the festival, or just an excuse to be on the water, this itinerary gives you two great weekends' worth of reasons to visit Southwest Florida.
For a broader look at what the area has to offer, explore our Things to Do page.
Day 1: Arrive, Explore, and Get Your Bearings at Fishermen's Village
Start your trip at Fishermen's Village, one of Punta Gorda's most popular waterfront destinations and a great home base for the Fourth of July weekend. Grab lunch or an early dinner at one of the waterfront restaurants then head to their Sunset Beach club to enjoy a drink with your toes in the sand and catch one of our beautiful sunsets.
If you're arriving Friday evening, even better. The Village has a convivial energy that's hard to beat as a trip opener, and you'll already know the lay of the land when things kick into gear on the Fourth.
Day 2: The Fourth of July
There's no shortage of ways to celebrate in Punta Gorda/Englewood Beach on the Fourth. Here are three great options:
Event Highlights: Fourth of July
- Fishermen's Village Independence Day Celebration: The annual celebration at Fishermen's Village kicks off at noon with family-friendly activities and vendors along the Village Promenade along with live entertainment throughout the afternoon. Fireworks over the water begin at 9 pm and the best views are from the west side of the property.
Sunset and Fireworks Cruise with King Fisher Fleet: Get close to the action! The boat departs at 7:30 pm (check in by 7 pm as they leave right on time) from King Fisher Fleet's location in Fishermen’s Village and returns to the dock at around 9:30 pm. After a leisurely sunset cruise, you'll be at the perfect vantage point to view the fireworks. Cocktails, beer, wine, and snacks are available for purchase on board. Make note of any mobility requirements when making your reservation.- Fourth-Fest 2026 at Laishley Park: Fourth-Fest is perfect for full family fun, with a giant water slide park and Kid's Fun Zone, live music, and festival food and cold drinks. Admission is free and the fireworks start at 9 pm. Bring your own chair or blanket and leashed, well-behaved pets. No outside food or drinks, backpacks, or pop-up tents are permitted.

If your trip extends into the following weekend, you have a genuinely unique option:
Event Highlight: Spirit Fest:
