Punta Gorda is a genuinely bike-friendly city, with trails and paths winding through the area’s waterfront scenery. And no worries if you didn't bring your own bicycle—the city offers free loaner bikes.
Visit one of four locations with your ID and a credit card. They'll make a copy of each (and destroy them when you return the bike) and you're on your way.
Punta Gorda is a great little city to explore this way, with over 30 historical murals to hunt down and plenty of independently-owned restaurants offering well-deserved treats along the way.
Please note: most trails are multi-use and leashed-dog friendly, so operate with courtesy.

At the south end of Manasota Key, Stump Pass Beach State Park offers access to both Lemon Bay and the Gulf, with sea birds and the occasional parasailer overhead. Parking is $3 per car (instructions onsite) and portable restrooms are available.
