Itinerary of the Month: A 3-Day June Weekend in Punta Gorda/Englewood Beach
June in Punta Gorda/Englewood Beach is the start of the classic Florida summer. The mornings are bright and ideal for outdoor exploration, while the afternoons are perfect for cooling off indoors or on (or in) the water. This itinerary is built around a mid-month weekend that features two of the area’s more distinctive events.
For a broader look at activities, explore our Things to Do page.
Day 1: Harbor Rhythms and Village Finds
Start your morning with a walk along the Harborwalk or a quick visit to the Punta Gorda Downtown Farmer's Market (Saturdays, 8 am–1 pm). As the day warms up, head toward Fishermen’s Village.
Event Highlight:
If you're in town on June 13, plan your afternoon around Jazz on the Harbor at Fishermen’s Village. This event is a collaboration between the Charlotte County Jazz Society and the Punta Gorda Chamber of Commerce and features local and regional jazz artists performing throughout the Village from noon to 8 pm, all free of charge.
After the music, consider dinner at one of the Village's waterfront spots or head downtown to try one of Punta Gorda’s featured Flavor Coast restaurants.
Day 2: Patriotic Skies and Local History
Spend your morning exploring local wildlife and history on an outing with Babcock Ranch Eco-Tours for a look at Florida’s interior when the animal are more active. In the afternoon, the Military Heritage Museum is a great indoor option and features flight and ship simulators, Virtual Reality experiences, and thousands of artifacts, many of which are interactive.
Event Highlight:
On Flag Day, Sunday, June 14, head to Laishley Park for the inaugural Flag Day Drone Show: Red, White & Blue Days of Punta Gorda. Gates open at 3 pm for a waterfront celebration featuring live music, a vendor village, and food trucks. The highlight of the evening is a 100-drone light show over Charlotte Harbor at 9 pm. The drones will be choreographed to patriotic music, offering a modern alternative to traditional fireworks. Admission is $10 for ages 13+ while ages 12 and under are free.
Day 3: Coastal Exploration and Shelling
Your final day belongs to the beach. Englewood Beach and the nearby Stump Pass Beach State Park are just a short drive from Englewood, about 20–30 minutes from Port Charlotte, and around 30–40 minutes from Punta Gorda. June mornings are the best time for shelling or searching for fossilized shark teeth at Stump Pass Beach State Park. Note: parking fills up fast, so the earlier you go, the better.
Enjoy lunch at one of the nearby beachy restaurants (all within walking distance of Englewood Beach). Or, if you’d rather stay on the water, consider renting a boat or booking a fishing charter.
Event Highlight:
If you’re celebrating Father’s Day in the area, or if your visit falls on Father’s Day Weekend, head to Visani Italian Steakhouse and Comedy Theater for their special Father's Day with Ox & Bull: Dad Bod Comedy Tour show. This is the perfect way to treat dad to a full steakhouse dinner alongside a premier comedy show in a cool, indoor setting. Find more dad-friendly ideas in our Father's Day post.
