Family walking on the beach on Manasota Key in Punta Gorda/Englewood Beach.November in Punta Gorda/Englewood Beach means the start of festive season! The weather is cooler, the atmosphere is cheery, and the beaches are beautiful and still uncrowded. This month you’ll find live music, arts and culture, and one of the best Air Shows in Florida. To find even more fun, explore our Things to Do page.

Day 1: Elegant Experiences on the Harbor

Kick off November with a gracious getaway centered around Sunseeker Resort's inaugural Jazz Fest: Food & Wine Weekend, November 5–7. Take advantage of their Florida Gulf Coast’s Long Weekend Special (available November 1–14) for the best and most relaxed experience.

Arrive early and explore Punta Gorda’s charming and walkable downtown. We recommend lunch at Pizza Gorda or Leroy’s Southern Kitchen & Bar then some artful shopping at Sea Grape Gallery and HipNotique Boutique. Head back across the bridge to jump into:

Event Highlight:

Wine at Sunseeker Wine & Jazz FestThe Sunseeker Resort Jazz Fest: Food & Wine Weekend brings live jazz, chef-crafted bites, and curated wine pairings to the shores of Charlotte Harbor. Thursday and Friday evenings (November 5 and 6, 6–10 pm) are free to attend, with à la carte food and wine at restaurants and bars around the resort. Sink into the music, wander from stop to stop, and end the night on a high note at Level Blue Rooftop Bar. On Saturday, November 7, the resort goes formal for Serenade & Supper (5–9:30 pm), a four-course dinner with paired wines and a headline performance by Danny Sinoff and the Stardust Memories Big Band. Tickets for Saturday’s event start at $149 plus tax, and the dress code is cocktail or formal.

Day 2: Playing with Gravity

This weekend is, literally, up in the air, with fascinating events at two very different volumes. Ramp up for the day with a hearty family style breakfast at Elena’s Diner, which has been serving Punta Gorda for over 30 years, or enjoy a Greek-infused breakfast at Toula’s. Then it’s time to look up:

Event Highlights:

Florida International Air Show
Sikorsky MH-60 HelicopterStart the weekend off with a roar at the Florida International Air Show, November 7 and 8 at Punta Gorda Airport. Gates open at 9 am and the flying starts at noon. Expect aerobatics and stunts, skydiving, and more, including static aircraft displays and a hands-on STEM Pavilion for the kids. Tickets include free parking, and the show goes on rain or shine.

Elevate
Wind down from the excitement of the Air Show with the fascinating Elevate: An Exhibition of Gravity-Defying Sculptures. You’ll still be looking up, but this time will be artful and quiet as you explore the thirty suspended and meticulously balanced sculptures by Polish artist Jotka. The entire Gardens will look different with the sculptures floating above the botanicals, ponds, and pathways. Elevate opens November 7. Note: the Gardens are closed on Mondays, which is the perfect excuse to stay a couple of days longer. But, if you miss it this trip, you can always come back, as the show runs until April 30, 2027

Day 3: Embrace the Holiday Feeling

Punta Gorda/Englewood Beach offers plenty to be thankful for, including a wide range of accommodations, peaceful outdoor time, enough events and activities to engage everyone in the party, and a wide variety of independent restaurants - including the spots highlighted on the Flavor Coast. You’ll find plenty to do no matter when you visit, but this time of year is especially packed:

The lights are on through the end of the year, so you may want to come back for more festive fun.
  • Thanksgiving Ballroom Brunch at Sunseeker Resort Florida Gulf Coast: November 26, 11 am–3 pm. Enjoy a bountiful brunch and beautiful water views in the resort’s ballroom. Or, explore the area through our Restaurants Open for Thanksgiving post and find your own best family dinner.
