As a military-friendly community, we have compiled several Veteran’s Day highlights to help you observe this important day:
Veteran’s Day Parade
The annual Charlotte County Veterans Day Parade typically kicks off from Port Charlotte Beach Park and travels along Harbor Boulevard to Edgewater Drive to the William R. Gaines Jr. Veterans Memorial Park. The parade usually beings at 9 am on Veteran's Day, November 11.
Veteran’s Day Events
Florida West Coast Car Club usually hosts the Veteran’s Car Show at the Vietnam Memorial Wall of Southwest Florida with music, food, and more. A $10 donation is usually accepted, which directly benefits veterans. The show takes place at the Charlotte County Justice Center and is always held close to Veteran's Day. Next door at Laishley Park you'll usually find the Healing Field of Honor which displays 1,000 American flags flying in ceremonial formation, usually over the long Veteran's Day Weekend. 
The Gulf Theater at the Military Heritage Museum is almost guaranteed to present their very popular Salute to Veterans with Bob Hope and The Victory Dolls over the Veteran's Day Weekend. This USO-style show features "Bob Hope" (usually Bill Johnson) and stunning harmonies from The Victory Dolls that will remind you of The Andrews Sisters. Veterans always receive 20% off tickets, which are available on their website.
The Military Heritage Museum always marks the day with patriotic music, a Color Guard, and a Veteran tribute video. Special events may include The Peace River Quilters will present Quilts of Honor to six veterans, and there is always a prestigious guest speaker, like 2023's Major General Greg F. Martin, PhD, U.S. Army (Retired). Other activities typically include Huey helicopter cockpit tours and the showing of an amazing documentary film. Regular admission prices apply for the museum but there is no cost to attend the ceremony.
Keep an eye out as well for Yoga for Veterans at The Yoga Sanctuary, which features a guide practice through a focused and accessible yoga routine. Tickets are available on their website.
