Whether you’re pulling in for the weekend or for a whole season, you’ll find a great home base and plenty of fun close to a Punta Gorda/Englewood Beach RV Resort.
Each geographic area has its own personality, and you’ll find activities and events for all tastes no matter where you stay: laze on the beach or fly above it on a parasailing tour; paddle a peaceful waterway or thrill yourself racing around on jet skis; savor a multi-course gourmet meal or dig in to down-home bar bites; get dressed up for classical music or slip into your comfy clothes and dance the night away, it’s all up to you!
Punta Gorda
Punta Gorda is both a charming small city with a rich history and a modern waterfront destination for boating and fishing. Add in the thriving food scene, several farmer’s markets, a walkable downtown, and the internationally-known Peace River Botanical & Sculpture Gardens, and you’ve got a comfortable yet exciting home away from home, perfect for RVers looking for both culture and nature experiences.
Parks like Palm Breeze Luxury RV Resort and Creekside RV Resort offer a wide range of amenities including water access, pickleball courts, pools and hot tubs, and more. Palm Breeze also features a Tiki Bar and a dog park. Both are close to downtown Punta Gorda, which means tons of great restaurants, like those featured on the Flavor Coast.
Nature experiences are also easy to find, like IguanaLand, the world’s largest reptile zoo, and Babcock Ranch Eco-Tours, a fun, funny, and wildlife-packed tour through four separate ecosystems.
Port Charlotte
Port Charlotte is a friendly and convenient place to stay for RVers looking for paddling and other water adventures, fishing, plenty of quiet parks full of birds and wildlife, golfing (including several indoor simulators for when the weather’s not cooperating), and a wide range of restaurants to rave about. We recommend starting with the spots featured on the Port Charlotte section of the Flavor Coast.
Encore Harbor Lakes RV Resort features wide streets, mature landscaping, and a full range of modern amenities, from pickleball courts and a pool to a game room and a library. The Myakka River Motorcoach Resort offers nature views, lake- and river-front lots, spacious pads, and a beautiful clubhouse.
Both of these resorts are located at the north end of Port Charlotte, close to the Myakka River, which means it’s a breeze to hop over to Englewood Beach, to drive down to Punta Gorda, or take easy advantage of all there is to do in Port Charlotte.
Englewood/Placida/Cape Haze Area
RVers looking for quality beach time, nature trails and waterways, and a wide range of eateries will love a stay at Cabana Bay RV Resort in Englewood.
This resort connects to the Cape Haze Pioneer Trail, a destination biking and walking trail. It’s also right next door to Rotonda Golf & Country Club, which encompasses five separate courses. Englewood Beach is just over 20 minutes away.
When it comes to food, let the variety of options inspire exploration! Try the wings at Lighthouse Grill and Tiki Bar (and learn about the self-taught, female pitmaster behind them on the Flavor Coast), hop on the Water Taxi and enjoy a leisurely island lunch or dinner at Rum Bay Restaurant, or head to Super Day Express, a “gas station” that actually offers some of the tastiest food in the area (ask any local). Also nearby is Ephesus Mediterranean Grill, offering authentic Turkish cuisine, and just around 10 minutes away you’ll find genuine Italian food at Apulia Osteria Italiana. Find more on the Englewood Flavors section of the Flavor Coast.
Fishing is easy, too: drop a line from Centennial Pier or book a trip with a charter at Gasparilla Marina—and enjoy lunch and boat watching at Smokin’ Jerry’s Tiki Bar while you’re there. Minutes away, at the base of the Boca Grande Causeway, is Eldred’s Marina, a popular launch for Silver Lining Charters, Captain Morgan Fishing Charters, and more. Find your next great fishing trip here.
No matter where you park, it will be worth it to enjoy all that the area has to offer.
