Southwest Florida’s warm, sunny days are a gift to people and plants alike — and nowhere is that more evident than at the farmers’ and artisan markets in Punta Gorda/Englewood Beach.
From Gulf-fresh seafood and sun-ripened produce to handcrafted goods and live music, these markets are a celebration of local culture and community. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a year-round regular, everyone’s welcome, including leashed dogs.
Pro tip: spring is a particularly magical time to visit: humidity is down, crowds thin out after Spring Break, and the variety of fresh produce coming out of local waters and fields is at its peak. But since all but one of our local markets run year-round, there’s never a bad time to plan a market morning.
The Markets at a Glance

Punta Gorda
Downtown Punta Gorda Farmers Market — Saturdays
The Downtown Punta Gorda Farmers Market is the anchor of the local market scene. Every Saturday, 80+ vendors fill the area with an impressive range of food, from fresh fruits and vegetables, artisanal cheeses, and handmade pasta to fresh-baked breads (including gluten-free options), pickles, fresh seafood, and too much more to list. Artisans bring candles, soaps, jewelry, clothing, and fine art.
Early risers are rewarded with first pick of the day’s catch: grouper, snapper, and Gulf shrimp brought in by local fishermen just hours before. The air fills with the scent of warm bread and citrus zest as live musicians keep the atmosphere cheerful.

Vendor Spotlights
Punta Gorda Downtown Market
A few favorites include Donna Marie’s Healthy Feast, whose fresh berry desserts are usually sold out by 11 am; Mangiamo’s, whose meatballs (from a closely-guarded secret family recipe) earn rave reviews; and the only original vendor, present on day one 17 years ago, Hernandez Family Produce, who offer the freshest fruit and vegetables.
Englewood Farmer’s Market
The list of products available at the Englewood Farmer’s Market is almost endless, but a few favorites and recent Vendors of the Week include Tania’s Toffee, Crazy Joe’s Fresh Peanut Butter, Swing Blades knife sharpening, and Carlin’s Garden which offers sourdough crackers and bakery items.
Pro tips for all markets: bring a hat, sunscreen, a refillable water bottle, and reusable shopping bags. Dress for the weather and try to get there as close to opening as possible: the early birds get the best produce.
