Animals & NatureCapybaras in their Pool at Happy Capys

HappyCapys is a treat for the whole family. This rare animal experience gives kids (and their adults) the opportunity to feed, pet, and hang out with three young capybaras—Jane (after Jane Goodall), Betty (after Betty White), and Tippi (after Tippi Hedren)—right in Englewood, Florida.

Peace River Wildlife Sanctuary is a great place to learn more about birds. Get up close to the residents: Luna the leucistic Screech Owl, a pair of turkey vultures, a Bald Eagle, and many more. Head over around 2:00 pm for the Pelican feeding, an experience in itself.

If you've got a stargazer (who is at least 6 years old) in the family, book a tour of the night sky with Starry Night Florida. They'll get to look through a high-powered telescope and hear fun stories about the stars. Mosquito jackets, binoculars, and snacks are provided.

If you're looking to explore the Blueway Trails on your own, both SUP Englewood and Paddle Me Happy deliver kayaks across the area. Colored trail markers will keep you on the path as you explore, and you'll see birds of all kinds, dolphins, alligators, and other sea life, and maybe even manatees if you're lucky! SUP Englewood also offers guided tours from the landside of Don Pedro Island State Park and Paddle Me Happy from Port Charlotte Beach Park.

For the ultimate in relaxation, hop on a King Fisher Fleet boat tour. Based at Fishermen’s Village, they offer a variety of cruises, both short and long. Harbor dolphins love to ride the wakes.

You can also rent your own vessel and explore on your own or contact Riptide Rentals to try out a jet ski adventure (they also deliver to many locations in the area). If you're short on lifejackets, there are several free loaner stations at various marinas and boat ramps.People enjoying the Gulf Coast shoreline at Englewood Beach in Southwest Florida
