When it's time to let the moms and maternal figures in your life know how much they’re appreciated, treat them (and yourself!) to a visit to Punta Gorda/Englewood Beach for a wide array of fun activities, scrumptious meals, and quality time to appreciate each other.
Here are some recommendations for things to do for Mother’s Day, though most of the fun stuff below can be done any time of the year:
Amazing Cuisine
Great trips run on happy stomachs and no matter if you’re looking for light or hearty, healthy or indulgent, or unique or comforting, you’ll find crave-able cuisine everywhere you go in in the area, from breakfast to late supper and everything in between.
Outside Adventures
Nothing beats beach time, of course, no matter if you’re lazing in the sun, swimming, or collecting shells and fossilized shark teeth. Bonus: there are five great restaurants within walking distance of Englewood Beach, or main sand-and-surf spot.
If mom or anyone else in the party is a pickleball player, they’ll be very happy with the options in the area, from our crown jewel, the Pickleplex® of Punta Gorda, to easy drop-in courts from one end of our area to the other. Or, if someone wants to golf, they’ll find over 15 beautiful courses to enjoy.
Mother’s Day Activities
Several places in the area host special Mother's Day brunches and teas and other fun events every year, but sometimes the best activity is just enjoying a drink and a nice conversation in a beautiful setting.
No matter the occasion, find the perfect atmosphere for a wind-down at unWined Wine & Beer Bar, Punta Gorda Chocolate & Wine, Downtown Kava, or Perch 360 atop the Wyvern Hotel.
Theater & Entertainment
Nothing beats the energy of a live stage performance! Keep your eye on the venues below for exciting live music and theater events:
The Grill at 1951 featured live music from Clara Bose, Disney singer and pianist on Mother's Day. She performed Broadway, Disney, and classic melodies.
Lots of fun was had with “21st Century Seniors” at Assisted Living: The Musical®, which played at the Charlotte Performing Arts Center, complete with a Mother’s Day matinee.
The Charlotte Players presented Mornings at Seven, an acclaimed and charming portrait of small-town America. They also performed a Mother’s Day matinee.
Visani Italian Steakhouse and Comedy Theater had a stellar lineup over Mother’s Day weekend, with Jamie Kennedy (Randy from the movie Scream) performing Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, and a special Mother’s Day show with comedian Al Ernst.
Whatever you did for those special people on this special day, we hope it was a good one. And, if you missed any of the fun in Punta Gorda/Englewood Beach, it's never too early to start planning for next year!
