Pickleball, a combination of tennis, table tennis, and badminton, is a fun and friendly sport that almost anyone can learn to play. This may be part of the reason it has become the fastest-growing sport in America over the past four years. It's also among the most inclusive of communities—picklers make instant friends wherever they play. This makes travel even more rewarding, and your new pickleball friends can recommend amazing restaurants, sights, and activities.
How Much Does it Cost to Play Pickleball?
Punta Gorda/Englewood Beach is a great place to play pickleball due to our many public courts, both indoor and out. Our crown jewel is, of course, The PicklePlex® of Punta Gorda with its 24 sanctioned courts separated by fences. This state-of-the-art facility is not only home to national professional and amateur tournaments and Level Up camps, it’s a destination in itself for pickleball enthusiasts. Stop by and play for a $10 drop-in fee Monday through Friday, and for free on Saturday and Sunday from noon until 10 pm, unless there’s a tournament taking place.

You can also find courts across the area, both indoor and outdoor. Play outdoors on the water at Gilchrist Park. Indoor courts like South County Regional Park, Harold Avenue Regional Park, Centennial Park Recreation Center, and Ann and Chuck Dever Regional Park have a drop-in fee of $3. South County also offers paddle rentals for $1 each and features additional outdoor courts.
Punta Gorda/Englewood Beach also offers several locales with blended courts, which means they’re lined for both tennis and pickleball. You can play these courts at Franz Ross Park, Port Charlotte Beach Park, Harbour Heights Park, William R. Gaines Veterans Memorial Park, and residential parks throughout the area, like Bissett, Deep Creek, Midway, and McGuire.
Whether you’re a pro or a competitor, here for a large national tournament, or you’re looking to play a few games while you’re visiting us, you’ll find a variety of welcoming venues to enjoy some happy, healthy, and fun pickleball time.
