PUNTA GORDA/ENGLEWOOD BEACH, FL – After nearly a year-and-a-half halt, the Allegiant Travel Company’s Sunseeker Resort Charlotte Harbor, located in Punta Gorda/Englewood Beach, will once again resume construction progress on the resort.
Originally slated to open in Spring 2021, progress on the resort had ceased in March 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. However, with the $350 million loan for the company announced by Allegiant Air President John Redmond, the luxury resort is set to once again resume building by the end of August 2021, with completion slated to fall within 18-24 months.
“The Sunseeker Resort Charlotte Harbor will be an invaluable asset to our county in both visitation and job creation,” said Sean Doherty, Tourism Director for the Punta Gorda/Englewood Beach Visitor & Convention Bureau. “We predict the positive economic impact on our tourism industry will open the doors for a new set of visitors to the area and further establish Punta Gorda/Englewood Beach as a premier destination for sun seekers to Southwest Florida.”
Sunseeker Resort Charlotte Harbor will feature approximately 500 hotel rooms, 180 extended stay suites, over 200 boat slips, 55,000 square-feet of meeting spaces, 19 restaurants and bars, and a ½-mile promenade walkway. The 19th floor will include a rooftop restaurant open to the public, boasting incredible views of the Charlotte Harbor and a rooftop pool exclusive to hotel guests.
With resumed construction to Sunseeker Resort Charlotte Harbor, also comes renewed renovations on Kingsway Golf Course, one of the resort’s premier amenities, slated to begin in fall. Veteran of more than 60 golf course design projects – including two of the elite 27 golf resorts in the world, renowned golf architect Kipp Schulties will lead the course renovation. When completed, the club will be open exclusively to members and resort guests.
Conveniently located near the Punta Gorda Airport, a base of operations for Allegiant Air, Sunseeker Resort Charlotte Harbor will be the largest and most unique resort Punta Gorda/Englewood Beach welcomes to the region.
