Charlotte Sports Park

Port Charlotte

The heart of Charlotte County, Port Charlotte is located in-between Englewood (West and North) and Punta Gorda (South).  At the top of the harbor, Port Charlotte is also the home to many golf courses and the award-winning Charlotte Sports Park, home of Tampa Bay Rays Spring Training as well as the Minor League high-a affiliate of the Rays, the Charlotte Stone Crabs.  Though not an incorporated city, Port Charlotte has the highest population concentration in the County, with amenities you would expect, such as a mall and major chain restaurants (Olive Garden, Carrabbas, Outback, etc.)

Essentially encompassing the area between the Myakka River and the Peace River, Port Charlotte has a good choice of hotels, restaurants, and shopping.  A stay in Port Charlotte works out well for those that want a perfect location for hub-and-spoke exploring.  It is only minutes from beautiful small-town Punta Gorda to the south and only a short drive to the west to the beaches of Englewood and the coastal islands. Communities within the Port Charlotte area include Charlotte Harbor, El Jobean, and Murdock.
