Red Tide Support Resources

Additional support and programs have been released due to the (ongoing) issue of red tide.  We will attempt to keep these resources as updated as possible:

VISIT FLORIDA Red Tide Recovery Marketing Program

Visit Florida LogoVisit Florida has announced a program that will aid tourism related businesses in red tide affected counties:  Collier, Lee, Charlotte, Sarasota, Manatee, Hillsborough and Pinellas.  The program has many features that normally are found within paid membership levels, many of which are available for free through February 28, 2019 (extended: April 30, 2019 for applications submitted after October 22, 2018).  This information and links to application can be found by clicking here: Visit Florida Red Tide Support

Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission

In addition to monitoring resources, including a new interactive map with up-to-date samples, the FWC has also produced a quick information card that the VCB has printed and is available for hospitality industry partners in bulk at the main VCB office at 1700 Tamiami Trail in Port Charlotte.

Red Tide Recovery Grant:  Google My Business Training

Visit Florida LogoAs part of a Multi-DMO effort for red tide recovery, Manatee, Sarasota, Charlotte, Lee and Collier counties jointly applied for, and were awarded, a Visit Florida Grant. The chosen focus would be improving destination appearance across the Google digital ecosystem.  As part of this program, industry training workshops were held in each of the counties, as well as a webinar outlining basics that hospitality businesses could utilize to drive more business, as well as repair any negative red tide related content that might be attached to their business. It's important to remember that businesses are likely seen far more in Google products than by visits to your website.  In a simple case study, a given business saw 1,000 times more impressions in Google Maps than visits to their website, which points to the importance of keeping your business profile updated. And it's not just maps, the business listing is a primary resource for the search giant across many of their products.

The recorded webinar is available for partners to view here:  Leveraging Google in Red Tide Recovery
