Charlotte Harbor has been named by Sail magazine's "10 Greatest Places to Sail in the United States" and now Punta Gorda, Fla., is in the running for being one of Yachting's 50 Best Towns in the World, but the publication needs to hear from you. The February 2011 issue of Yachting has a letter to the editor submitted by Jim Branch, Harbor Master of Fishermen's Village, asking the publication to consider Punta Gorda as one of the 50 Best Towns in the World for the publication's contest. Some of the reasons he cites why Punta Gorda should be included are: city population of 20,000; three waterfront hotels; two marina with more in the planning stages; and area "is host to numerous boating and fishing events," including the Marine Trawler Owners Association, Regional Charlotte Harbor Sailing Regatta and in 2012 the World Disabled Sailing Championship. The editors are now seeking your input as to why Punta Gorda should stay in the running for Yachting's 50 Best Towns in the World. Send an email to email@example.com. Photos are encouraged. A deadline is not included in the article but the sooner you send your comments, the better. According to the editors, the top nominees will be announced in the May issue.
