The recent Furry Friends Virtual Bike Challenge was such a huge success, they’ve decided to do it again in June!

The challenge begins June 1 and ends June 30, 2020. Registration is $25.00 (race fee) + $2.50 (sign up fee). Registration stays open the full 30 days. Sign up and get the full details here.

They also work to proactively educate response agencies and the community on Search & Rescue. PRSAR strives be a leader and preferred service provider to Law Enforcement, Emergency Management, and the community.

This is a non-profit, all-volunteer organization that does not receive any Federal, State or Local government funding, depending solely on donations. Dedicated volunteer dog owners train their own dogs to become SAR K9s.

It’s easy and fun to participate in this challenge: simply ride as many miles as you can in a 30-day period, and send your miles to info@beachbumtiming.com as you complete them (start tracking on June 1, 2020).

You can submit your miles by sending pictures of your device, app, or link such as Strava, Garmin, MapMyRide or other tracking apps. Your rides can be indoor, outdoor, on- or off-road and/or on trails, or on ElliptiGO, just keep track of every mile. Once you are registered, join their "Ride 4 Our Furry Friends II" Strava club to make the process easier.

Bike teams of no more than 10 riders per team are encouraged, and all are reminded all to keep practicing social distancing.

Peace River Riders, a cycling club in Punta Gorda, may be a good place to start getting a team together (link goes to their Facebook group). The team with the most miles receives a great prize and bragging rights!

We have plenty of great local bike shops to get you road-ready: ACME Bicycle Shop in Punta Gorda, Bicycle Center of Port Charlotte, Rich's Recycled Bikes and More in Port CharlotteBikes and Boards in Englewood, and Real Bikes Englewood.
