During Sea Grape Gallery’s 30 years in Punta Gorda, the artist owners of the Gallery have continually supported charitable and non-profit organizations in the community. This year the artists selected the Peace River Wildlife Center as their primary non-profit organization. The Gallery artists donated over $1,000.00 worth of original artwork for a basket for which raffle tickets were sold during the Gallery’s 30-year celebrations and various Peace River Wildlife events. On May 24, Sea Grape Gallery’s artists were pleased to present the Peace River Wildlife Center a check in the amount of $2,500.00 to thank them for their caring support focused on the rehabilitation and where possible the return to the wild of injured birds and mammals. Additionally, Peace River is unique in that they create a permanent home for animals which cannot be returned to the wild.

Sea Grape Gallery, a fine arts gallery with 21 local artists, is located at 113 W. Marion Avenue, Punta Gorda. Peace River Wildlife Center is a non-profit wildlife rehabilitation facility dedicated to the care, preservation, and protection of Charlotte County’s native wildlife and is located at 3400 Ponce de Leon Parkway (West Marion Avenue), Punta Gorda. Sea Grape Gallery’s Artists of Months for May-June 2018

From May 3 to July 5, 2018 Sea Grape Gallery will be featuring two of their artists, Kitt Moran, oil painter, and Nancy Giffin, Nantucket basket and Shaker box artist.

Kitt Moran, a professional singer and playwright, has added painting to her artistic passion which she views as a natural extension of her musical abilities. Being passionate about people, animals, singing, and telling a story, Kitt’s paintings seem to capture all these emotions direct from her heart. As Kitt says “When I sing for an audience, the song becomes a painting – I see the perfect pressure of a brush stroke in a word from the lyric, or just the right color value for the note”. It is evident that when viewing Kitt’s paintings, they convey the same emotion that her music has provided her audience for years. Her beautiful and vibrant paintings have won many awards and honors.

Nancy Giffin and her husband Bill moved from Massachusetts to Florida bringing with them knowledge of the true Nantucket and Shaker traditions and cultures. Nancy creates authentic baskets and boxes that are inspired by American history, preserving that wonderful time honored American tradition. As Nancy explains, “I love to create Nantucket and Shaker baskets and boxes knowing that they represent small replicas of American history. I’m truly pleased to have the opportunity and creativity to help preserve and pass on a unique American tradition”. Her special award-winning art works are both beautiful and functional which can hold a prominent place in every home.

Many of Kitt’s paintings and Nancy’s baskets and boxes are prominently on display at the Sea Grape Gallery. In addition, more of their art and the artworks of all Sea Grape artists can be viewed at
