Sea Grape Gallery Announces Two Guest Artists for February 2018

Sea Grape Gallery is proud to announce that during the month of February, they will be showcasing the artwork of two former Sea Grape artists, Karen Schneider, Watercolorist, and Cathe Sowin-Puckett, Fiber Artist.

Karen Schneider was a member of Sea Grape Gallery for 11 years and served as past president of the Gallery for several of those years. She is well-known for her realistic watercolors but also utilizes other water media, collage, and acrylics. Her “Whereiwannabe” is a continuing series of sea and landscape watercolor paintings that capture the tranquil beauty of Southwest Florida beaches, out islands, and wildlife. As Karen explains, “my inspiration comes from the natural beauty of places I’ve experienced, and I want to transport the viewer of the painting to that special place”. Karen’s “Traveling On” portfolio takes you from Nova Scotia to Cuba and may places in between. When viewing Karen’s art, it becomes evident that she truly has captured the tranquil beauty of the special places she has visited.

Cathe Sowin-Puckett began her career in the art world by creating and selling hand dyed silk wearable art. She became a member of Sea Grape Gallery after moving to Florida from Las Vegas. While living in Las Vegas, she worked for Cirque Du Soleil designing costumes for the Cirque performers. During her time there, Cathe began to expand her artistic endeavors into more sculptured pieces having been inspired by the wonderful artists and her co-workers who both pushed and encouraged her artistic growth. As Cathe says, her father, a carpenter and craftsman, taught her the value of hard work, the love of the outdoors and the importance of family. Now retired, she devotes herself full time to her studio where she loves to create and celebrate beauty using “the natural materials God has provided to us”. Each of Cathe’s beautiful and colorful fiber art designs are truly works of art.

Many of Karen’s wonderful paintings and Cathe’s fiber art pieces will be on display at Sea Grape Gallery during the month of February. Both Karen and Cathe will be available at the Gallery during February’s “Alive After 5” to describe their art and the creative processes they use to produce their works of art. Their art can also be viewed on Sea Grape’s website at Sea Grape Gallery is located at 113 W. Marion Avenue, Punta Gorda. The Gallery is always open until 8 p.m. on the third Thursday of the month for “Alive After 5”. To learn more about Sea Grape’s Guest Artist Program call 941-575-1718.
