As of January 4, 2019, the red tide in our area has been consistently dissipating over the past several weeks.
Once we receive the all-clear from FWC and Visit Florida, we will move forward to once again actively promote visitation to our beaches.
News Release: Water Quality Summit Set for Jan. 29
CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. (Jan. 4, 2019) – Charlotte County will host the Water Quality Summit from 1-5 p.m., Jan. 29 at the Charlotte Harbor Event and Conference Center, 75 Taylor St., Punta Gorda.
The event will feature three panel discussions with scientists, researchers, engineers and policymakers on the subject of harmful algal blooms, such as red tide and blue-green algae. Admission is free, but pre-registration is required at ccwatersummit.eventbrite.com.
