PUNTA GORDA/ENGLEWOOD BEACH, Fla. (October 10, 2019) – Punta Gorda/Englewood Beach Visitor & Convention Bureau was recently recognized for its innovative campaign work in tourism marketing. The beloved destination received an eTourism Summit Excellence Award (also known as the eTSY Awards) powered by Expedia Group Media Solutions at the eTourism Summit in San Francisco this week.
Punta Gorda/Englewood Beach’s campaign, “Outsiders Welcome”, earned an award for “Best Use of Video,” which recognized superior digital video content. A collection of 13 diverse categories showcased tourism marketing programs across the globe, for which they were judged based on creativity, overall strategy and measurable consumer impact.
The Outsiders Welcome campaign promoted differentiating factors of Punta Gorda/Englewood Beach from competing Florida destinations, and emphasized the area’s wealth of extraordinary outside activities and gorgeous natural settings. With beautiful beaches and fun activities on and off the water, the destination went to market for the past few years with the tagline, “Our Best Side is Outside.” It was this thinking that led to a video series as part of a larger campaign centered around inviting outdoor enthusiast to one of Florida’s most peaceful and untouched destinations.
“It is an honor to be recognized for our continued pursuit of positioning Punta Gorda/Englewood Beach as an authentic and experiential destination,” says Wendie Vestfall, Tourism Director at the Punta Gorda/Englewood Beach Visitor & Convention Bureau. "We have worked closely with key industry partners and destination advocates on this important project, and are proud to see our efforts are showcasing Punta Gorda/Englewood Beach as the ultimate outside vacation for all types of visitors.”
