PUNTA GORDA/ENGLEWOOD BEACH, Fla. (Nov. 09, 2017) – Women, and some men, donning bright pink feather boas, puffy tulle tutus, and sparkly tiaras will flood Punta Gorda streets for one day in December when the Divas® Half Marathon & 5K Florida West Coast at Punta Gorda hits the streets. Called the “most fun and glam women’s running series in the nation,” the Divas® Running Series returns to Florida with its debut in Punta Gorda on Sunday, Dec. 10. The race is limited to 2,000 runners and as of Nov. 1, more than 800 runners have registered.
“Pink Boas are new fixtures in our office as our staff prepares for the Divas® Half Marathon & 5K Florida West Coast at Punta Gorda,” said Lorah Steiner, Director of Tourism for the Punta Gorda/Englewood Beach Visitor & Convention Bureau, “We are thrilled The Divas® Running Series selected Punta Gorda for their Florida run and the Charlotte County community is eager to welcome the anticipated 1,700 participants.”
Punta Gorda businesses are gearing up to welcome race participants. In coordination with the Punta Gorda/Englewood Beach Visitor & Convention Bureau, a coupon book featuring complimentary and discounted luxuries from more than 25 participating businesses will be given to each participant so they can dine, play, and pamper themselves in diva-style. Examples of offers and discounts in the coupon book include a complimentary glass of bubbly with race gear at F.M. Don’s, free 60ml bottle of olive oil or vinegar with any purchase from Bella Balsamic, and discounts on spa services at Spa One Day Spa and electric bike rentals at PedelecSQB Electric Bicycles.
Registered participants will pick up their packets, including pink tutus and pink women’s-fit tech tees, at the Health & Fitness Boutique on Saturday, Dec. 9, between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. at Fishermen’s Village. (1200 W Retta Esplanade Punta Gorda)
The 5K and half marathon will take place Sunday morning, December 10, 2017. All race finishers will receive a jaw-dropping medal complete with a charm compatible Pandora® bracelets. The Divas® medal will be presented to participants in custom, reusable Divas® jewelry pouches. In addition, Divas will receive women’s fit tech tees, tutus, and bubbly, and will pass the infamous feather boa and tiara station en route to the finish line.
