Sea Grape Gallery Artist, Kate Staber’s Work Being Offered to Fund Scholarships
Highly acclaimed Oriental brushwork artist, Kate Staber, recently retired, has donated many of her paintings to the Sea Grape Gallery with the intention that all proceeds of these wonderful works be used for scholarships going to art students in Charlotte County. Kate was a well-respected member of Sea Grape Gallery for many years.
Kate, a life-long award-winning international artist, is very experienced in Oriental brush painting, working in the traditional Oriental discipline. She began the study of Oriental brush painting in 1978 and continued her studies with many great masters in China. In 1988 Kate was one of 50 artists chosen by First Lady Nancy Reagan to paint 2 Easter eggs which are now in a permanent collection in the Smithsonian Museum in Washington, D.C.
The Sea Grape Gallery has collaborated with the Visual Arts Center to offer Kate’s paintings at deeply discounted prices in order to honor Kate’s wishes for the proceeds to fund the scholarships. These lovely artworks, which are typically matted and framed with museum glass, will be on display from March 2nd through March 26th at the Visual Arts Center in Punta Gorda. The art will be offered on silent auction with an option to “buy it now”. The auction will close on March 26th and the winning bidders will be contacted by phone and asked to pick up the purchased works by March 28th. In addition, there will be an Art Reception at the Visual Arts Center on March 14th at 5:00 p.m. where Sea Grape Gallery members will be available to discuss Kate’s unique work.
Several of this highly revered artist’s works will also be available at the Sea Grape Gallery during the month of March and at Sea Grape Gallery’s March 8th & 9th Courtyard Sale.
