After four seasons of Port Charlotte concerts, Bion Cantorum is moving to Punta Gorda. The vocal chamber ensemble begins fall rehearsals September 10 at its new home, First Presbyterian Church of Punta Gorda, 25250 Airport Road, Punta Gorda. Their next concert, “Christmas Is Coming,” will be Sunday, December 2, 2018 at 3 p.m.
The December 2 concert will feature Lauridsen’s “O Magnum Mysterium,“ Basque carol “The Infant King” arranged by David Willcocks, the great Russian interpretation of “Ave Maria by Rachmaninov, and two versions of “Silent Night,” one familiar and one contemporary. The program also includes folk songs of the season and works by Kingston, Custer, Mel Torme, and arrangements of Norman Luboff and their own musical director, Roy Engler.
New voices in all vocal parts are welcome to join Bion Cantorum. Please attend the first rehearsal at 7 p.m. Monday, September 10 at the church or call director Roy Engler at 239.826.7947 for more information.
