CHARLOTTE HARBOR & THE GULF ISLANDS, Fla. (Feb. 29, 2016) – Beginning March 1 through 5 p.m. on April 12, 2016, the Charlotte Harbor Visitor & Convention Bureau will accept nominations for the 2016 Charlotte County Tourism Hall of Fame. Established in 2014, the Charlotte County Tourism Hall of Fame was created to honor people whose body of work in support of Charlotte County tourism has been both exceptional and diverse. 

The Charlotte County Tourism Hall of Fame recognizes people who have a body of work relating to Charlotte County tourism spanning at least 10 years. This recognition is given only to those who, through their efforts and leadership, have had a significant impact on Charlotte County’s tourism. Induction into the Charlotte County Tourism Hall of Fame is not for a single event, activity or act, but rather for continual service to Charlotte County’s tourism industry over a period of ten or more years.

Criteria for the 2016 Charlotte County Tourism Hall of Fame Nominees include: 

•    Nominee may be living or deceased

•    Nominee must be of exemplary character.

•    Nominee’s contributions to Charlotte County tourism must span 10 or more years.

A panel of six judges composed of representatives from each geographic area of Charlotte County as well as regional and state tourism organizations will review the nominations. 

All nominations are due by 5:00 p.m. on April 12. Nomination packets received after 5:00 p.m. on April 12 will not be accepted. The Charlotte County Tourism Hall of Fame induction is on May 12, 2016, at the Charlotte Harbor Event Center and all nominees will receive an invitation to the event.
