CHARLOTTE HARBOR & THE GULF ISLANDS, Fla. (April 07, 2015) – Featuring more than 20 courses in the area, the Charlotte Harbor Visitor & Convention Bureau has produced a free, hand-held guide featuring golfing in Charlotte County. The colorful guide includes a map, descriptions of 22 area golf courses, and lists Charlotte County accommodations. In conjunction with the Charlotte Harbor VCB, the guide is sponsored by Myakka Pines Golf Club, Rotonda Golf & Country Club, and Weston’s wannaB inn Resort.

“We are proud to make this user-friendly guide available to prospective visitors to our destination,” said Mr. Sean Doherty, Sports Marketing Manager with the Charlotte Harbor Visitor & Convention Bureau, “This publication will serve as an important educational piece and will help illustrate why the Charlotte County area was ranked the Third Best Place in the Country to Live and Play Golf by Golf Digest several years ago.”

Through the Charlotte Harbor VCB’s partnership with the Florida Golf Marketing Alliance, more than 3,100 guides were distributed this spring at Midwest and Northeast U.S. consumer golf shows. According to a 2013 study released by Golf 20/20, the direct golf economic impact on Florida’s economy is $8.2 billion a year, up from $7.5 billion in 2007. 

Each year, the Charlotte Harbor Visitor & Convention Bureau conducts marketing, sales and promotional campaigns to increase awareness of and visitation to Charlotte County. In addition to generating economic contributions, the Charlotte Harbor Visitor & Convention Bureau is also focused on developing soft adventure or eco-tourism, a low-impact industry enabling the county to preserve the invaluable natural resources that contribute to its ecological health, distinguish the area and draw visitors.
