PUNTA GORDA/ENGLEWOOD BEACH, Fla. (May 29, 2020) – Punta Gorda/Englewood Beach Visitor and Convention Bureau announced today its “Outsiders Welcome” campaign has been named ‘Best in Branded Content’ in the 41st Annual Telly Awards.

Honoring excellence in video and television across all screens, the Telly Awards are judged by leaders from video platforms, television, streaming networks, production companies – including national names like Dow Jones, Duplass Brothers Productions, Complex Networks, A&E Networks, Hearst Media, ESPN Films, RYOT, Vice+ and Vimeo.

The Outsiders Welcome campaign promotes differentiating factors of Punta Gorda/Englewood Beach from competing Florida destinations, and emphasizes the area’s wealth of extraordinary outside activities and gorgeous natural settings. With beautiful beaches and fun activities on and off the water, the destination went to market for the past few years with the tagline, “Our Best Side is Outside.” Punta Gorda/Englewood Beach’s engaging Outsiders Welcome video series defined those enjoying the outside as “Outsiders,” and offered visitors the opportunity to meet other, local “Outsiders,” who lead them into the area’s wealth of outside activities. The video series made a statement: If you’re all about being outside, going off the beaten path, and doing things your own unique way, then you might be an Outsider, and here, we say, “Outsiders Welcome.”

This announcement caps a yearlong celebration of creators around the globe and across all screens. Continuing on from the inaugural Film & Video Screening Tour last season, The Telly Awards toured a selection of Telly Award-winning work to London, New York City, Amsterdam and Toronto, culminating with an online event. This year also saw the continued expansion of new categories to further the awards’ recent initiative to rebuild the honors for the multi-screen era. New categories included serialized Branded Content and expanded Social Video and Immersive & Mixed Reality categories, alongside new categories honoring important work in Social Impact and Diversity & Inclusion.

Last year, the Telly Awards attracted more than 12,000 entries from top video content producers including Adult Swim, the BBC, Condé Nast, Complex Networks, Netflix, Refinery29, RadicalMedia, T Brand Studio and Ogilvy & Mather.
