Punta Gorda/Englewood Beach Visitor & Convention Bureau staff joined about 500 members of Florida’s tourism industry during Florida Tourism Day at the State Capitol in Tallahassee March 13. It was an opportunity to meet with lawmakers and their staff to educate them about the importance of tourism to the State and Charlotte County’s economies. Tourism generated $566 Million in economic impact in fiscal year 2018, which generated approximately $7.9 Million in local taxes and approximately 5,107 jobs. That means for every TDT dollar spent on the tourism department (3 pennies) generated $150 spent in the local economy and $3 in local taxes.
